I'm checking in. I have to try to get my weight down since I seemed to have packed on a few Hard 8 pounds from when I was in TX. Of course, I am sure all the chocolate, comfort food over the holidays had nothing to do with it.

Walking the dog will keep the metabolism riding high. I have a fence, but he jumps it (4'), so I have to walk him four times a day. It is good exercise for both of us, but that first step each time sure is hard! Good luck with your exercise goals!

Dover will definitely walk as fast as I want to! My foot is ok for walking now, thank goodness!

We had a good walk this evening, after I got in from the gym.

He's a great, loose-leash walker, unless he sees other dogs. Then he BEGS to visit them, which means that I have a pulling, whining German Shepherd on at the end of a VERY tight leash.

Fortunately, we have a tall fence, so he can go out back, too. The dogs generally don't stay out there long without me, though.

I know a lot of people don't like them for training purposes, but the extendable leashes are better for dogs that like to pull, I think.....my experience anyway. When on the roads, I have to pay close attention to Ringo in case he sees prey.......sometimes I zone out and he gets me (surprised my rotator cuff is still functioning!). On the trails I just let him loose, but I can't always get to them unless I have Thomas' truck. I refuse to put him in my car.hahaha It is still too new and has black interior, so every hair (and there is a ton of em) would show up. Glad your foot is healed up and functioning well!

He mainly pulls just when he sees other dogs. We've seen cats and rabbits and he just looks at them. He wants to sniff and play with the other dogs.

I just walk out the front door with him and walk the sidewalks. ha!

Nothing wrong with a little meat on the bone.

My mid section isn't what is used to be, that's what I need to work on.

The pups are now old enough to take running - So I am going to start running with them. I was runner back in the day.

Having fun with Dance Central on the Kinect too.

The prong collars work very well for the pulling. Mason is very good on a leash, walks right with us, Sienna used to pull - choke chain was nothing for her - our breeder recommended the prong collar - they say they are more humane. A tug or two on that and she doesn't pull anymore.

Like I told you before, I am NOT coordinated enough to do the dance things. Dover and I walk REALLY fast, but I don't run. Couldn't yet with my foot even if I wanted to.
