Two weeks ago yesterday we buried Mom’s remains, and Dad stood up strong and addressed us all. And now he can’t stand up at all. Very quick decline.

My next door neighbor had the Priest read him his last rites yesterday. I went over today to give them a card and his wife said he isn't going to make it. He was in Hospice at home. Four hours later he's outside and came back in and had dinner. wtf?

briefly talked with Dad this morning, he was very weak, doubts he'll see tomorrow (we have aides getting the house set up for him going home tomorrow, that may be a pointless exercise), and my other sister should be landing in Cody in another 30 minutes and will go straight to see him.

he has a family that loves him, you can't ask for much more than that. and per his wishes, he'll leave a nice inheritance for his kids.

I had hospice for my Mom. I took care of her and she lived with me until the end, but having the hospice nurse checking in on her really helped. That's what they do for a living, and they're just as much about helping guide you through one of the worst things you'll go through in life as they are helping the patient. Sorry to hear this. Glad the family is around and supporting each other. Mom was also cared for by Hospice and it was a true blessing for all of us.
