sounds like pneumonia. not sure when he's going home, winter weather is due locally, which would make driving up and back to fetch him somewhat iffy.

DAB crashing in inclement weather isn't going to help anyone. Better that he be safe and make the trip when the weather is good, if need be. Pneumonia is bad, but it actually sounds a lot better than a stroke or heart attack, so I'd say that is good news, actually. You can fully recover from pneumonia, and I'd say someone like his mom, battling the flu, shouldn't be around someone with pneumonia, so it sounds like everyone keeping in contact by phone is the best way to manage this situation, at this point.

DAB, still hoping everything turns out good for your Dad. I'm sure he's getting the good antibiotics, so he should be improving daily. The most complicated thing about this whole thing will probably the logistics of getting dad back to his house. That will be an expensive Uber ride, but still a lot cheaper than a 2 day each way drive for DAB.
