Paid $2.69/gal for e85 this week, and while not a product of crude, all gas stations that sell e85 peg the price based on 87 unleaded.

Of course I am also getting 50% more fuel economy, but will save the details for my new thread; SUING MANTIC CLUTCH FOR $500K.

Paid $ 2.39 for Exxon regular unleaded, cash, this morning right by the house. I'd say Houston's general range is between $ 2.50 and 2.69. I did pass a brand new Valero that had regular unleaded for $ 2.89, didn't see anyone filling up there. Diesel credit at the same Exxon I filled up with was $ 2.90, generally It looked like about $ 3.10-3.30 is average....there are some higher.

California's problem, even more than high taxes, is the boutique gasoline blend they require, which basically prevents other states from shipping fuel there. That's an even worse obstacle than high taxes generally, and I'm guessing, even higher at the pump gas taxes. I bet anyone that lives close to the border just hops across to Nevada or wherever to fill up.
