Nah, it is only 6:23 am in the Philippines right now. Santa and Tim (the Island's Elf) probably won't be stirring for another two or three hours.

I'm sure with all the jet lag, rum/rhum, Santa duties, recovery efforts, etc, that they are all quite busy and probably very tired out.

I say let them enjoy themselves and get some rest/recovery...the pics can wait.

However, if we don't hear from them within the next coupla days, I think we should find a way to check on them.

We are here and alive. The Santa thing went over like a charm. I have never seen so many smiling faces and happy kids than I saw on Christmas Eve when we handed out the toys.

Tata ( cornhlio ) called each of the 700+ kids by name. Each one came up on the stage and picked out their own gift from the selection of toys. Took well over 3 hours to hand out the toys. Each kid then stopped and had their pic with Santa.

Here are a few photos to get started, internet is slow here, will post more soon.

We ended out handing out over 800 toys, some in Cebu City, Most here in our village on Christmas Eve, and took the rest to another village the next day, along with lots and lots of candy.

I'm confused. I thought the plan was to give out approximately 400 toys to the kids in Bantayan but it appears that 800 were given. The 400 for the village plus the 80 that were given away in Cebu don't come close to 800 toys. The only way that I can see that happening is if some of the toys (such as two or three little cars in a blister pack) were broken down into individual toys to be handed out. If so, we collectively, need to work harder next year, especially when more children will show up now that they know of Santa.

OTH, great pictures of the kids waiting (patiently?) to get their presents. Tim and Dixie did good on this.

Now, if we could get a status of how the village hut rebuilding project is proceeding that would be interesting.

It is a gift to see all those children who have so little, after the storm, being given a toy at Christmas. I can only imagine what joy this simple act of kindness has brought to them. Thanks to Tim, Rob, and all the others who helped make this happen.
