Default The police beat

Every Wednesday my school's paper post's whats called the police beat. Which is actual incidents that are in need for police to get involved. This week is pricless

Police Beat, Feb. 1 - Eagle News - The Student Media Group at Florida Gulf Coast University

Quote:
Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 2:28 p.m.: A student reported to UPD that after getting off the shuttle bus she walked to her dorm in building O and as she was entering the building a bucket of water was dumped on her head. The student told officers that she attempted to make contact with the suspects but they wouldn't answer the door. The incident was turned over to housing.

Friday, Jan. 27 at 1:05 a.m.: A drug search conducted in Everglades Hall recovered more than 20 grams of marijuana in a student's room. The student was placed under arrest and brought to UPD for processing. He was then transported to Lee County Sheriff's Office.

Friday, Jan. 27 at 8:34 p.m.: A student reported someone keyed his car while he was in class. The incident took place in Parking Garage B.

Saturday, Jan. 28 at 10:22 p.m.: During routine patrol officers encountered numerous students, members of the Lamba Phi Alpha fraternity, at the waterfront around a bonfire. Officers checked with RA' and no one had been given permission to have a bonfire. UPD advised them to extinguish the fire.

The Police Beat is compiled by Eagle News staff from public logs available at the University Police Department. Police Beat is not associated with the UPD. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty by a court of law.

What the hell is wrong with a bonfire? When I was in college, one of the student organizations had amassed a huge pile of wood for a sponsored bonfire for some sort of event. Well, I along with some other folks who may or may not have been drinking, decided we needed a bonfire. We grabbed up a few gallons of kerosene and lit that mother up. People still showed up, but the organizers were none too damn happy. It however was a GREAT bonfire!!!!

well surely, with a little creative writing effort you could add to that. doesn't even have to be true.

like this:

Thursday, Jan. 25, 4:34am - police responded to a call of loud noises. upon arrival, three women were found to be consuming a large pepperoni pizza and chugging from a diet coke bottle. apparently, a discussion on how to split the cost of the food ensued, and the women could not agree how to divide the bill for $11.43 three ways. so one woman started to chug the entire bottle of diet coke to get even. but she couldn't keep it down and ended up spitting all over the other two women. no report taken, prayers said for the math professor.

and then you include a photo:

Actual incident at my college when I was there:

"An unknown person or persons took a joy ride in a freight train Friday night. Around midnight, ICRR (Illinois Central Railroad)discovered that a train from its local freight yard was missing. After contacting other stops North and South of the local yard, the train was spotted in Water Valley, where the train reversed direction and returned to Oxford. Upon entering the yard in Oxford, the train was parked in its original location, and the perpertrator(s) vanished. ICRR officials said that it was sheer luck that there were no other trains on that route that night."

Gee, I wonder who would do that.... Did you know that freight trains are remarkably easy to drive?

Hell, a slow week for us (Appalachian, 25 years ago) was when when bagged our RA, blindfolded, stripped him down and tied his naked ass to a chair. Then we put him, in the chair, on the lobby elevator in the co-ed dorm and hit the buttons for every floor.

From the Rutgers Medium....

Local Police Blotter

COLLEGE AVENUE– Michael Furman of Duke St. was reported to local authorities after he was believed to have stolen baked goods from the College Ave Au Bon Pain. However, upon arrival, the owner remembered the cookies had been free samples and that he probably shouldn’t have pulled out his protective flame thrower after all.

MORRIS STREET-Christine Bauscher was apprehended after running down the street in a flaming flame-retardant suit in an attempt to light everything possible thing onfire; she tripped, however, and the rolling effectively put out the flaming suit.

COOK- Lou Miller was arrested for hitting an undercover officer posing as a jaywalker, who walked into Miller’s car at the last possible second and then claimed that he was driving too fast.

UNION STREET- An unidentified student, 21, was sedated and arrested for putting upholstered furniture on his front porch. Remember folks, breaking zoning ordinances is a serious crime.

SENIOR STREET- Police were disappointed to find that John McDermont of Senior street, a frequent criminal offender, had not actually done anything wrong last night. Police then retired to Noodle Gourmet for the next three hours while four armed robberies occurred in the College Ave area.

BARTLETT STREET- Police responded to a noise complaint on the top floor of a house across the street from the Olive Branch. A search of the house recovered several brands of cheap wine, including Mad Dog 20/20, Cisco, Wild Irish Rose, Nighttrain and three gallon sized jugs of Thunderbird wine. It was reported that there may have been threats of indecent exposure and loud screaming.

PLUM STREET- Police responded to a frat party where several women were found to be asleep on the floor. When questioned, one fraternity brother stated that it was “nap time” for the girls, who were visiting from a nunnery. The brothers offered to escort the girls to a proper bed and to dress them in something more comfortable.

Ask those Texans. I forget which college but an annual ritual at one college. It turned south a couple of years ago. Several deaths.

No more bonfires.

That was Texas A&M (Aggies). 12 people were killed when the bonfire collapsed. Many, many years ago someone was run over by a tractor at the bonfire.
