Default Why does it have to be so friggin' hard working on cars nowadays?

All I had to do was replace a burned out brake light bulb. Here's what the owner's manual said to do versus what the truth is:

1. Remove access panel covering the tail light housing. (They got that part right...in a way.)

2. Remove the bolt securing the tail light panel to the car. (It's a nut, not a bolt. And there are "bolts", like more than one. Two of them that are buried 3" above the opening. WTF use is an access panel that doesn't give you access???)

3. Pull the tail light assembly toward the rear of the car to remove it. (No shit! I would have never thought of that--I was gonna push it toward the front of the car.)

4. Disconnect the wiring harness plug from the tail light assembly. (Why can't I just unscrew the bulb without doing that? Oh...there's not enough slack in the harness to get the bulb out.)

5. Place the tail light assembly on a soft cloth to prevent damage to it. (Hell, my knuckles and fingers are bleeding from removing the "bolts" that I could barely reach! Feck that!)

6. Replace bulb and reinstall tail lamp assembly. ()

Gee...no instruction to replace the access cover?

Sucks, doesn't it?

I gave up replacing headlights, tail lamps, etc about ten years ago.

Yeah, you'd think after a 100 years of development that commonly replaced parts would be simple to change.

Would have cost a grand to have a lawyer follow all those steps.

You don't know the half of it.

My transmission went out about six years ago, so now I have to go downhill everywhere I go. I started out in the mountains of Colorado. Now I'm on the FL coast.

I'm kind of running out of places to go.

How many lawyers does it take to change a light bulb?

No idea. But I know how many light bulbs it takes to change a lawyer into a bloodied, pissed off, rant poster.

You got it! One bulb was enough. Why can't they make light assemblies with plug-ins that you can reach from the rear? Or is that asking too much?

They make ones that are really easy to change. Problem is you have to drive a Camry.

I've got all of that...and more. There's no question that I can do the repair, it's just stupidly hard to do. Like a heater hose that runs under the intake. WTF? You have to remove the intake to replace a heater hose??? Why was it placed there in the first place? On my 67 Vette, you have to remove the inner fender panel to replace the battery. All they had to do was re-route the brake lines a bit.
