Helping Students with Autism Succeed in College

Being successful in college is trying for many students and for those with Asperger’s or Autism the challenge is even greater. On today's Talk of Iowa we hear about a new program at Kirkwood Community College that is designed to help students on the Autism spectrum succeed. Charity talks with Kelly Wise and Barbara Mussman of Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids, Josh Cobbs of the Iowa Autism Council, and Kirkwood student Zach Diericks.

It's nice to hear places are starting to get on the bandwagon and attempting to help these kids.

The school system my son is in now has helped him immensely and they have a middle and highschool as well. Out in the western part of the state is a college dedicated to special needs kids as well as kids from broken homes to help them get any help they need as well as a kick ass education.

Very cool! Our district does a great job from K-12, but it's tough sledding from that point on.
