Default How to get pics from old laptop
I have an old Gateway laptop with windows 98se. It won't power on and I want to get the photos off it. Suggestions on how to do it.

Pull the hard drive and get whatever adapter cables needed to connect the drive to another PC (USB, SATA, etc.)

Oddly enough, it appeared to have 2 hard drives. I don't remember adding a second one but it's old so I might have. I slept since then.

Get an adapter
Take out the drive
Connect
Search for .jpg files
Copy all
Paste in to new laptop
Search for .png
Do the same

...or any other known picture format you might have saved.

I've done this more times than I care to count.

Back in the day, some OEMs partitioned the physical drive into 2 virtual drives. C: would be the boot drive and hold all the system files, and D: would be used for your own files.

The adapter is cheap and it basically makes the hard drive act like a USB stick.
