Job Opportunity
It must be really difficult to fill a software engineer position when you're a fresh-off-the-boat Desi from Bangalore with only a faint grasp of the English language and the idea that SPAMming a million potential candidates is going to be an effective strategy. Also, I realize those of you who aren't in the computer industry probably won't get this, but that "job description" is the most retarded thing to grace my email inbox in many, many years.
Maybe @The_Dude would be interested in this? Quote:

I had an old cartoon, clipped from an IT publication back in the early 80's, but can't find it.
A guy is in front of an H.R. desk being interviewed, saying "Do I know Fortran? Probably; what's her last name?" I enjoyed my time with Fortran. Mostly wrote routines to divide solid objects into a set of coordinate points for a finite element analysis mesh. |

I coded my first automated brewing system on VB and a Windows 95 laptop. Ran a set of hardware off of the serial port to control heaters and volume flow. VB was one of my favorite coding platforms as it was really focused on the UI.

We still have a guy here who codes almost solely in VB. Most of his software is pretty integral to the entire system. It's a sad state of affairs.

Back in Jan, 2009, I was voluntarily terminated (early retirement) from a tech company that had employed me for 11 year. Eventually, by 2012, the complete division has disappeared. The parent Co. (Quad Graphics) is still here in the States.
Anyway, my position was outsourced to India. 2008, a year before, and during the waning years of the Bush-to-Obama admin transition, 75% of a 4 department, 500 person engineering team, was either sold off, or exported to India. I worked with the below pictured dude, here in the States, from approximately 1998 to 2009. He's now in India. Ass Manger? |
