Default That other war

My 4x grandfather that took up the musket against the Brits in 1812. I think this image of him would date in the 1860-1890 range. He may have witnessed that 'Star Spangled Banner'.

Kind of interesting about back then......what was the average age at death??

today it seems like age 80 or so.......talking of natural causes, not auto accidents/building collapses/etc......

I would be curious to hear of any ancient family left in Russia, as my GP's left there at teenagers in ~1895 or so.......I know the family root names, but what sort of site could ever connect with legit family branches???

Average life expectancy in 1860 was around 40. Now its just shy of 80.

Originally from Scotland. The family came into NC in 1700's. He scouted for land in GA. because NC was getting too crowded. He found some near Dahlonega, GA in the NE GA mountains after the war. The area was also heavy with Indians at that time. He built a cabin and went back to NC to retrieve his family. They settled and prospered there. A 600' fall, creeks, roads, etc...are all named after him. I just wish we had kept the 200 acres in the family!

These falls are very near their original cabin, along with the creeks, etc...
