Yes, too many people have been run off as a result of how political threads go in OT.
They do belong in their own area, so that those three people who know everything, can have a circle jerk with themselves, and not bother us in OT.

OT should not be for threads on race, religion, politics etc. we have a specific forum for that. The fact that threads there die fairly quickly should be a clue that most people here really don't want to get involved in an internet flame war.
The threads in OT really only draw a small group with the majority being the same dozen or so members

That's total BS. Half the threads in OT belong "in another area". And when sea six went out of his way to make that point...he was ridiculed.

You are wrong if you think a handful of political threads (that are easily moved when asked), have run off members. Look at the content of most threads. Near every one turns into boobs and ass fukking comments. You think that appeals to the masses?

It doesn't always happen. Sometimes, there's a good discussion, and it softly dies after a few laughs, with no one having hurt feelings. Other times, however, they spiral downward. IMHO, if and when a thread starts to get to snippy, before it gets downright nasty, it should be moved.

In this way, current events CAN be discussed, and if it goes well, great, and if it starts to skid sideways, it can be moved to the safe confines of PR&C before it hits the wall and goes up in flames.

Most people here really don't want to get involved in these type of threads

Don't get me wrong, I check PR&C almost daily and post there but these type of threads really only draw a small group who we all know their political slant.

Look at who the people are making the most posts in this thread. Most (including me) will post replies in PR&C

1. I wanted a wider audience that the regulars in PR&C
2. I may be wrong, but I don't think a single participant asked that the thread be moved or suggest that it is in the wrong place. The only mention of PR&C was a hope that it did NOT get moved.
3. Read through the thread and leave out Thomas' posts and it is a reasonable conversation/debate/discussion.
4. The person having an issue with the thread would be better to skip it than to antagonize.
5. I think the annoyance of posts that lend nothing to the topic are for more capable of driving members away than a reasonable debate placed in the wrong section.
