In '82 you could only get a auto? You sure that wasn't a CA-only kinda thing?

Thanks for the reminder that I am old.
Saw my first C-3, a 68 Blue/Blue, 300 hp, 4 sp, coupe at a Chevy dealer in Oakland, Ca the day I bought my 63 ragtop. This was Dec 67 about a week after I got back from VN. I have a 72 auto 350 in the garage that needs an engine build that will have to wait for temps to drop. |

Always wanted an 82 C3 ,the wife told me when I was looking that she had a 78 once and if I went for the C3 instead of the new vette that I would be traveling alone, she says they were too rough. I like my 2012 GS but still want an 82.

Two years ago, I put in all new suspension parts, including rear trailing arms, leaf spring, shocks, etc. Rides good now.

C3 will always be my favorite Vette. I had a sweet 71 LT-1 ragtop. I may have another shark someday.

I bought a new 1970 convertible in 1970 for $6006. Base engine and M4 tranny. But practically every other option. Traded in my 1969 SS/RS 396 Camaro on the '70. The Camaro cost about $3800 new. Wish I still had both...

20 years after we sold our last C3 (1982 CE)... Yvonne bought this: it's never too late to get back into a C3. Every place she drove the car to, every time she stopped... a crowd formed and she was asked questions and got positive comments. After about 3-5 years, she sold that 1973 and bought her 2003 AE Vert. The guy that bought her 1973 was an exporter; it went into a cargo container - bound for the Netherlands. Serious |

All this ride/handling is obviously dominated by wheels and tires, and the obvious limits depending on early or late shark, with/witout body mods.....
after the '89 vette wheels/tires, the two next most powerful mods were ditching that antiquated steel rear spring, and Bilstein shocks fixed my PIA, and then a cross support up front greatly improved the handling..... but being 6'5" and 225 lbs, the steering column was changed years ago for a '78+ vette column/wheel sporting '77 horn button and tele ring......I cut the floorboard way forward along the bottom and up each side of the firewall to height of the column, bent it forward ~3" and glassed it in, this allowed me to modify the pedals to 'lower' but actually put them further forward, this dropped my knees off the wheel, and greatly improved seating comfort....speaking of seating, I took the back mounts off the seat tracks and that dropped the seat about 2"..... I drive in the James Dean slouch position, left hand top of wheel, right hand on shifter and leaning on the console..... I also have rack/pinion steering and hydroboost brakes, serp drive on an '89 truck block and a 200 4r auto for the overdrive....Hurst shifter rod with a REAL 8 ball on top, just not cool if you don't have a 8 ball on a Hurst....... |
