Here's a thread about it. It does not seem to be a misprint. It is one big ass bolt.

This is why it's impo'tant to know maffs.

Wouldn't it be more accurate to torque it to 30 pounds and do it 10 times. I would imagine accuracy would be important!

Damn! With the exception of breaking loose some bolts, putting struts on is fairly simple But torqueing to 300, screw it. I guess I will pay somebody to do it.

I don't know, maybe get a torque multiplier!

Alarming the amount of hacks on that thread that think you can put a pipe on a torque wrench and it will be just fine. Scary.

Speaking of scary, anybody hear about Yadkin's Macan timing chain yet?

I count one guy. Ironically, pulling from a cheater bar would apply less torque than the capacity of the wrench. Wrenches have a mark in the center of the handle for a reason. That's the only place you can pull it from to get an accurate torque. You could get 350 ft-lb from a 200 ft-lb wrench, but you actually need to choke up on it, making the force you have to apply extreme.

Olustee bus can either get a multipier or just stand on a breaker bar at approximately the right length depending upon his weight. Or pay someone else who will just rattle away with an impact for bit and call it good.

This thread is like a warning against buying used cars because you never know what kind of hack some idiot pulled while attempting repair.

A friend of mine bought some Land Rover where the dealer that sold it to him had reused a stretch bolt holding on the crankshaft pulley. The bolt of course fell out since once it has been used one time cannot stretch into its proper torque setting again.

Apparently reusing one-time-use stretch bolts is common. Including head bolts.

Saves money. Why buy a new one when you can just screw over some future buyer.
