  • If you are 6'1" like me you find the extra legroom to be essential
  • Overhead bin space is never a problem
  • Most fatties can't afford FC
  • And even if they can, the wider seats and huge center armrest mean their flab still won't spill over into your seat
  • They still serve meals in First Class
  • Free alcohol
  • You're in the first group on the plane
  • You're in the first group off the plane
  • 2 free checked bags
  • Your checked bags come off the plane first
  • At SNA, First Class has a separate screening line at the TSA checkpoint. Not a big deal if you have TSA PreCheck, but still...

Bottom line, First Class and TSA PreCheck are the only things that make air travel tolerable for me. Maybe that means less Macallan 18 for me, but I accept that trade-off.

We are premium SW rewards members so get A class boarding. We choose the emergency exits and have much more leg room.

SW flight attendants are fun. Some of the most entertaining flights I have ever had. Play games if going to Las Vegas or some even sing or do their comedy skits during the boring preflight educational stuff. Makes mundane crap more tolerable.

OKC is not a hub, as a a results we connect via Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta etc to get to our final destination. Sucks.

With Breeze, we will have 2.5 hours of travel compared to the usual 5-8 to get to Tampa.
Breeze doesn't fly west of San Antonio == USELESS.

At 6'5", 290 lbs, I agree with everything above. I always fly first class now, it's worth the money to me.

I hear ya and you and Steve fly WAY more than I ever have so maybe the frequency would make me change my mind.

I also rank my preference by travel delays. Delta and United don't seem to care much about ruining your plans with delayed flights. SW seems to go above and beyond to get you there on time.

Honesty, the ONLY way to fly and be 100% happy is private jet. Only had the good fortune to do that once on Chuck Norris's private jet. THAT is by far the best way to fly..... but alas, no baller here.

And again, with my 3+ million miles, I don't see that on Delta, AA, or United. It occasionally happens, but is usually due to weather, not the airline trying to ruin your plans. I think bad weather affects SW as well.

A few years ago we took the kids and grandkids to Orlando for two weeks and we paid for everything. I got a quote for a charter jet thinking it might be cost effective for 10 people. It was far cheaper to buy 10 First Class tickets than a charter.

You have way more experience, but the data don't lie.>>>

And then there is this:

J.D. Power’s list of the top ranking airlines:

Delta Air Lines (860 points on a 1,000-point scale)
Southwest Airlines (856)
Alaska Airlines (850)
JetBlue Airways (849)
United Airlines (810)
American Airlines (791)
Air Canada (759)

So it would seem Delta has a pretty good ranking again, but SW beats out United and AA in both on time and customer satisfaction.

Would not know, would have to ask his wife Gena. She is super sweet. I sat with her on the jet.

But would assume he is probably not too shabby, he is overall a very kind man and I would guess aims to please his partner.

No, data don't lie. So, here's what that data tells my data-driven brain:

- There's not much difference between most airlines when the high and low are 87% and 73%.
- Delta is number two and SW is number 4.
- Nothing in that data says what the causes are for delays.

It's also my experience that the code-share partner airlines that operate commuter flights to smaller airports, like SkyWest, cause more delays than the majors, but the data doesn't break them out and instead attributes them to the major.

I don't like SW's cattle call boarding and lack of First Class but I occasionally fly SW. I'd drive before flying Spirit, JetBlue, or Frontier. YMMV.

I'll also add that once you get to the highest tier of elite frequent flier status with an airline, and you buy First Class tickets, you're treated quite differently than most other passengers on the same airline. One of the few upsides of flying too much.

Discount airlines are okay if you keep your expectations extremely low, price is the only thing that matters and you don't mind flying with the dregs of society. I'll pass.

Every time I flew SWA I got the A class boarding and sat in the front where the bulkhead is. I don't recall seeing any unattractive stewardesses and always ended up having bullshit sessions with them which most always turred into free drinks

They probably figured if they got you drunk you'd pass out and stop bothering them.

Can't speak for United or AA, but here are some of the extra amenities with Delta's highest tier FF program:

- Special phone number with dedicated agents for changes, delays, etc. (Seems minor but it's not.)
- Access to all Delta lounges and lots of airport lounges when there's no Delta lounge at an airport.
- Dedicated security lines at a few airports (the one for Delta Diamond Medallion members at Narita is impressive).
- I've been driven across the tarmac in a Porsche Cayenne from one plane to another a few times for very tight connections.
- Every time I've hit another million miles I get to choose a gift from a list of things like leather Hartmann luggage and other expensive stuff.

All major airlines treat their most frequent, usually business, travelers very well because that's where they make the most money.
