I don't own any Alexa products yet, but I'm not worried. Via my pcs' Chrome browsers and my Pixel phone, Google already knows everywhere I go, has all my photos, knows everything I buy, and also that I consume an unhealthy amount of extreme radical right wing content online and own many firearms.

If the black helicopters haven't come for me yet they're not going to over audio feed from my living room/kitchen of my wife yelling "stop touching me," "leave me alone," and "don't you think about anything else."

Considered an Echo Plus or Show, but passed. My smart phone can play me videos and music when I'm working in the kitchen, and flipping a light switch when I walk in isn't exactly burdensome.

I ordered something on Amazon this morning, then 15 minutes later got an email featuring the same item as an upcoming "lightning deal". The deal starts around 7PM, so I canceled my order & I'll see how much I save later. If their site is working then...

On a related note, my AMZN stock was up earlier in the day, then began to drop when their site problems started. Still finished up a bit for the day, but continued dropping after hours.

It's more Netflix than Prime Day problems. Netflix is getting SLAMMED and thus FAANG is feeling some of the effect - people are selling not only NFLX, but also ETFs with significant NFLX weight, which are often also heavy Amazon for example.

Luckily the N in my own personal FAANG is Nvidia. I'm underweight Facebook, and significantly underweight Netflix.

If they had a good deal on a TV, I would consider it. I've been looking to upgrade my ancient 40 inch Panasonic, but thus far I haven't seen much interesting. Guess I'll just hit up Wal-Martinez one of these days.
