Default So it begins.....
Decided it’s time to man up and get my track car in order. Both trans and engine going out to be rebuilt. I’ll rebuild the torque tube myself.

Having a lift makes this pretty easy.

Will be nice to have her all freshened up for the next round of beatings.

Been wanting to pull my trans for a rebuild. Grind on the 1-2 shift if I'm over 3k rpm. Synchros I'd guess but the rest of the trans is rock solid.

If the rules allow it, put in an ECS u-joint torque tube replacement and never worry about replacing it again

This is a reliable setup. I thought about the LG rubber bushing replacement, but word has it , it transfers hella noise. I’m going to use polyurethane bushings.

So dropped the trans/diff/torque tube off at the builder. He tore it apart so he could see what was needed.

I need a new 3rd,4th and 5th gear. He showed me why it would slip out of 3rd occasionally. The last pic, look at the steel keepers. You’ll see one that is missing. He’s also going to weld a bung at the front of the trans for a Doug Rippie trans cooler that I’ll install this winter. Torque tube had one bad bearing- everything is going to be replaced plus install a new slave cylinder with bleeder. I’m also buying a lightweight flywheel and a Mantis dual clutch. Needless to say I’m a lot poorer now.
