I don't understand how a driver would use a 7 speed manual transmission. Is there skip shift all over the place? Would the driver have to be shifting all the time? Seems like overkill to me.

It still has the 1st to 4th skip shift. Plenty of torque so no need to shift all the time.
I use both 6th and 7th as overdrives. 7th is only really useful on the interstate.
