I use to work in a Sawmill with a Foreman that would leave his jug of buttermilk on the break room table to warm up for lunch....it was the most disgusting thing ...next to his breath.

I am going to get some tomorrow. For no reason, I just want to make sure I get some before it is all gone. I love it!

Buttermilk is really easy to make.
You'll never buy it again once you make it once.

It only requires 2 staple ingredients, that we all usually have on-hand, and about 10 minutes of wait time!

Buttermilk is the liquid remaining, after butter is churned. It is thin and slightly tart with little bits of butter left behind.
Whether you need low-fat or full-fat buttermilk for your recipes, you can make it in minutes.

Ingredients For Buttermilk:

Milk
Lemon Juice (or Vinegar)

Buttermilk Recipe:

Simply mix milk and lemon juice together. Use the ratio 1 cup milk to 1 tablespoon lemon juice.
Allow the mixture to rest and curdle. It only takes a few minutes.
Then stir and use!

This makes great buttermilk pancakes and is sooo easy

I don't have to find Buttermilk. She usually finds me.

God I love cornbread in buttermilk. I add lots of pepper.

This works in a pinch, but it is not a replacement for buttermilk. The difference is very noticeable.

Yep, thought it was a southern thing. It was okay, only something I tried a few times with a little black pepper on it.

My grand father used to stir a tablespoon of sugar into it and drink it. My wife uses it for cornbread and always has some left over. I put a table spoon of sugar in it and drink it just like he did.

The first time I went looking for buttermilk was when my daughter wanted some for baking. I came home, and told her I could only find "low fat buttermilk". Obviously, I had no idea what I was doing.

I keep buttermilk in the house all the time in powdered form.
Most supermarkets stock it and all you do is add water.

Great for Sunday morning buttermilk pancakes.

You can make your own buttermilk. It’s what I do. 1 tbsp lemon juice to 1 cup milk.
