Thanks. Mine has a different layout than yours since it is a fishing model. You can still fish off of yours, no big deal.

You need to determine what diameter, pitch and number of blades ( looks like three in the pic).

Here is a link right from Yamaha for props.( pontoon boat )
https://yamahaoutboards.com/en-us/ho...eller-families

There's a picture of how the prop goes on ( so you end up with the correct extra parts) in the link if you scroll down.

Personally, I would go with an aluminum spare prop before a plastic one with replaceable parts. You might be able to find a used one at a marina for even less $$

Any idea what diameter and pitch I should get?
Right now the boat does ~23mph, which from what I gather, is about right for a 90hp Yamaha and a 20'pontoon.

Yep... Getting knocked and bounced around at 50-60mph is no longer in my wheelhouse. My wife always hated that, so we decided to go this route. Nice leisurely cruises to the bars and sand bars along the way in relative comfort.
I'm just wondering what replacement prop size to get, as I have no knowledge of this stuff. I may ask the dealer where the boat is.

There may be numbers stamped into your current prop. Those would likely be the prop size.

So I called the place where I bought it and it is being stored and it turns out to be a really good $600.00 prop.
It is a 13¼ x 14 stainless steel prop.
I'll probably get one of these for a backup.

Jeff, I'd recommend the aluminum props, much cheaper to replace or fix when busted up, and yes, you can bust up a SS out there even though bottom is mostly sand.

I have never damaged a prop on a pontoon boat they can take very shallow water. But always best to be prepared.

Your boat, your money but I would go aluminum for the spare.

Agreed but it's the submerged items ( a waterlogged timber just under the surface) that can damage the prop too.

Non negotiable boating rule regarding fuel

Always start with a full tank.

That way you have 1/3 out, 1/3 back and 1/3 in reserve.

I have 2 tanks on my bass boat for a combined total of 52 gals. I rarely keep them both full.

Bass boats are used more on lakes than large bodies of water that open into bays or an ocean. Your bass boat also has an electric trolling motor.

If you only have one tank, it's a good rule to follow.
