Carlisle Aftermath Post
Vet4jdc and I had a good weekend, Adam's party was a blast as usual, Gary showed up with some Vette Barn Gear, hats and golf shirts with Vette Barn logos. He says they will be for sale soon.
Met WWomanC6 aka Wendy on her TX to PA to TX tour but not many other VetteBarn folks. Had to do a little roadside repair on the ZR-1 Saturday when I broke a fitting and spewed about 2 gallons of coolant out the gills but it held up all the way back home. I am now JB Weld's biggest fan! Big Thanks to Jimmy, Ed, and Lance for all the help We got back to Hampton Roads about 11:30am Sunday. Will post pics later. Cool pics, looks like a fun time.
JB Weld has saved me in the past, love that stuff! Looks like a lot of cookies there, I figured Sneaks would have eaten most of them. Sorry to see you hurt your ankle/foot. Do you shave your legs?

So T.WAT- Did you pick up a new/used plenum? That doesn't look good. Maybe SGC can weld that aluminum but it might be a tough one. Is that thing a P&P? I wonder if that process could have weakened that area.
Heck, I think Shrek has a spare plenum or even an engine in a black ZR-1. |

It does not look like the plenum was damaged. The fitting is pressed into some kind of ring that joins it to the plenum and the ring is what failed. We had to goop the JB Weld to be sure we had enough to keep it from leaking.
I'll have to grind the JB off if I can find another Elbow and figure out what kind of fitting is used to join it to the plenum. |

I found the fitting and sleeve at White Racing Products about $79 each for a 1/4" aluminum elbow and sleeve.

Damn... Kurt White always had a premium on the ZR-1 parts but he does have the market cornered and did the leg work to track and list all those parts.
It could be worse I suppose. Good luck Tony. I would drop that car off in Moyock. I hear there is a great vette wrench down there and he has a lot of experience with ZR-1s. |
