Default Who's the fecker that lied to me about waxing car wheels?
I posted something months ago about maybe putting some brake dust shields on my car to help keep my aluminum wheels clean(er). Somebody said that if I waxed my wheels the brake dust would rinse right off. Bullshit!

Waxing wheels might make it easier to clean off the dust but not allow for it to rinse off They only way to get it to somewhat to rinse off is to use this (as in might have to agitate to loosen stubborn dust):

Even with ceramic pads, still get a good amount of brake dust. I've had some good luck with ArmorAll's Wheel Protectant. Spray a coat on after each wheel cleaning, a lot less dust buildup.

Wax does:
Keep things from adhering directly to the surface.
Fills hairline scratches, concealing them.
Provides a physical barrier against chemicals.

Wax does not:
Keep things from sticking to it.
