I do like that Ming-Na has been cast into it, I liked her on ER.

Im unsure of what kind of quality they can put into each episode, as far as cost and complexity, being a weekly series. Obviously we wont have an HEROS from the marvel universe such as Hulk, Thor, or Iron Man....just "Agents"...which is kinda lame...but we wil lsee.

S.H.I.E.L.D. as an organization isn't about the Avengers. Just as Fury says, they put together the Avengers as the nuclear option, to do the jobs S.H.I.E.L.D. can't do.

But they can do a lot. I'm expecting something akin to a modern Mission Impossible TV series. When the CIA isn't intelligent enough, when the SEALS are fish out of water, they call S.H.I.E.L.D.

But who wants to live in a world without the Avengers? Thats basically the world they are putting in front of is here...we KNOW the Avengers exist, we know SHIELD is 2nd best to the elite heros...so we are going to get 2nd tier enemies with 2nd tier problems, being battled by 2nd tier good guys....meh.

Its like living in a world where Gotham and Metropolis are neighbors, and the people in Gotham know that superman can do all kinds of crazy shit, and he is flying all over defeating asteroids and backing up time....and Batman is throwing boomerangs and defeating bank robbers....after people get killed because he had a nervous breakdown after he had a flashback to when his parents were gunned down.

Ironically, until last year, the Avengers themselves were "second tier"... Marvel has always been way more about Spidey and the X-Men. I remember the Hollywood industry media being a little snide about Marvel even making Iron Man, saying "look what Marvel is reduced to, because they signed all their good characters away"... those guys ate those words.

Point is, if you're unhappy at even the prospect of a Marvel show based around S.H.I.E.L.D. not having a weekly top-name superhero, perhaps you should take a pass altogether.

I just might myself. We'll see.

Not to mention Cap was made an executive director. Additionally Iron Man and Norman Osborn have been executive directors as well.

Point? Agents of SHIELD don't always have to be "just human".

Its likely going to be another case of a show...where you have what..6 members of a team, you have the brains, the brawn, the weapons expert, the computer whiz, the jack of all trades, and the newbie...amd week ot week they are presented with a new threat that ends up being just enough for them to handle and put away....will be interesting as to how they do the continuity of the week to week, like..is it going to be a 1 season continuous arch...or are they going to have it so one week doesnt continue from the previous...or whatever. Or one long continuous story..set to span into eternity, taking cues from shit that happened years ago..
