Right out of Dr. Bones McCoy's lab, the Linear Accelerator.
If you have, you know what I'm talking about. Every weekday morning at 0815, my ass is stretched out on the platform for some radiation, I just frickin' love it. It's for my own good though.

My wife starts at the end of the month. been kind of a sh*tty year but finally there is light at the end of the tunnel.

BTW - Appears to be an Elekta unit - good company.



Used to install and setup the heavy computer systems that did the treatment planning and sent all the operating parameters to the linacs.

I’ve been involved in some healthcare construction projects that included these units. Used to be they had to be in a room surrounded by two foot thick concrete walls; and there was no door, you went through a short “maze” to go in and out. Nothing above or below. Shielding is not quite as involved with the newer ones.

They are more precise, but the vaults are still thick & most have doors anymore, if for nothing else but to keep stray people out.

Here you go - a Lichtenberg Figure. You'll see these often in cancer centers as the linac manufacturer makes them on the accelerator the clinic purchased. Big sheet of acrylic, they crank the linac way up beyond it's calibration range and release a shot. Boom, instant fractal art. Then the linac is calibrated and it will never make that much power again.
