And here we thought that the only reason you couldn't keep that POS going in a straight line was that you are a shitty driver.

I did the Chevelle back in the days before point-n-shoots or smart phones I think I had a Kodak 128 or something I took a few pics using it.

Actually, I aligned that car up perfectly using simple tools. Sorry that you don't understand simple geometry or appreciate DIY mechanics.

Looks like I picked the perfect week to run back to PA

I'll be back Sept 19 so we can catch up for some birthday shenanigans.

You're just so ****ing perfect. I challenge you to find ANYONE that doesn't wish they were you. Everything you do is better, stronger, faster, better designed, planned, well thought out and executed to perfection. I'll bet your turds are even symmetrical, shiny and taste like honey. Eat one and report back.

Alignment came out great. Gonna have to pull the right front caliper off, I think some metal is wedged between the caliper and the rotor. Causing noise and some thin gouging. Otherwise the truck drives like new. I think they must have pulled the steering wheel and forget to reconnect the clock spring, as now my horn doesn't work and the airbag light is on. Wasn't like that when I dropped it off.

Nah, I'll let you perfect that little tasting task. Meanwhile, I'll keep taking care of the things that require imagination and understanding of the physical world.

Dude, this is a thread about a front end rebuild of my Tundra. Let's keep the dick measuring to a minimum and stay on topic.

Or disconnected the shaft from the rack and the steering wheel went for a ride and broke the clock spring, something is fishy for sure.

If you were aware at all, you'd realize that I didn't start that little dustup- I just finished it.

Really?

I'd call this a pretty good "start". Why not appreciate the work done without comparing it to all your glory and expertise?...Or better yet, STFU completely?

An alignment shop really has no reason to pull the steering wheel. Seems most likely you broke it when you had the rack disconnected or you installed the new rack in a different location in its travel than the old one, thereby causing the steering shaft to over rotate in one direction or the other.

So I ended up replacing both front sets of pads, and that wasn't the issue, but still glad the pads are replaced going to Lincoln. The issue turned out to be that the dust shield on the right front rotor was bent on the bottom half at 6-oclock. It was rubbing against the rotor. I bent it back into place, and removed/reinstalled all electrical connections, and the problem went away.

Fast forward...Tundra has a borked ODB2 port...don't know why, but I can't read any codes, thus it makes it nearly impossible for me to fix things. For the past 24 months, the engine light, traction control light, vehicle control light have been on. I always guessed that it was a bad...or loose connector to a sensor.

Me fixing the dust shield, and fixing the connections caused these lights to disappear (and having traction control working again), leaving only the horn not working and the airbag light on. Got a new clockspring today and removed/replaced the old one, and for the first time in nearly 2 years, not a single light is illuminated on the gauge cluster.

Despite this truck having 290,000 miles, the following has been done in the last 6 months, all of the following are new:
  • Wheels
  • Tires
  • Rotors
  • Brake Pads
  • Shocks/Struts
  • Steering Rack
  • Shifter Cable
  • Upper/Lower Control Arms
  • Sway bar end links
  • Steering rack
  • Power steering fluid reservoir
  • Tie rod ends and ball joints
  • Driveshaft U-joints
  • Clock Spring

This truck is ready for another 300k miles. Engine and transmission have minor leaks, as would be expected for a truck with this mileage, but minding fluids works just fine for now. Being a Florida truck, the chassis is 100% rust free. So easy to work on, and destined for a long service life.

Lincoln, NE...here we come.
