I pay 7 cents per kwh. Had to look it up.

I've got to do some math but it would seem to me cheaper to keep what we have.
My Utility has a tool that runs your usage through all 3 price plans and tells you which plan would be the cheapest for you. Even before owning EVs, the peak/off peak plan saved me the most because I usually reach tier 3 on the regular plan in summer. The peak/off peak plan has no tiers.

A lot of our power bill hedges on how much sun we get for the solar panels. During the summer we average about 12 dollars a month for the electric, that is with the ac set to 70 for the dogs.

I'll get solar soon but I'll need batteries as my Utility charges demand charges for the time between 6 am and 8 am when it's still dark part of the year.

My electricity provider also offers a peak/off-peak pricing plan. Pay 4 cents more during peak and pay 2 cents less off-peak. Hypothetically the past few months I'd be basically even, which means I'd pay way too much during the months when I run the AC. Working from home and cooking during sensible hours makes it a no brainer.

Alberta, Canada has the solution! Simply don't use any electricity! And especially don't charge your car so the grid doesn't black out. Winning!
