I don't think any group is worse than gun aficionados when it comes to taking advantage of a seller's market. The lines here form early in the AM to buy up ammo at Cabela's, BassPro, and Academy. An hour later you can buy ammo on the local gun forums at crazy prices. Heard a recent gun show had a 3 hour wait to get in. Crazy times.

I stockpiled before Commifornia started background checks and stopped online purchases a couple of years ago. I felt sorry for the mail lady hauling 30lbs boxes to the porch every other day (not) I looked at prices a couple months ago just for shits and giggles and it's stupid. I paid $200 for a brick and now is $600-700

I managed to find 5.56 a few weeks ago at Bass Pro Shops and bought a few boxes for friends and family.
Saw the same packages listed online for twice the price the same weekend. Assholes. |

I quit caring about ammo prices after my boating accident.

Never would have guessed the folks saying buy ammo instead of gold would be the smart money.

My son helped me out doing a nasty project, so I gave him a $50. Said to me how about you give me a box of .357 ammo instead. All I have had to shoot out of the new Python I bought last month was .38s.
Good thinking on his part I could spare a couple boxes. Truth be known if I knew he needed .357 I would have gave him some when he bought the gun! |

I have enough raw components to last the rest of my life with the way I shoot. I don't even bother with factory ammo anymore, but I have quite a bit stashed away.
Been getting into archery the last month or so. Bought a nice Bear Recurve and some custom made arrows, it's cheap and it's fun. |

Same here.... Glad I stocked up way back when things were less expensive, however, at that time, people were bitching how prices had gone up then too.
