I learned that song many years ago, using a pick which sounds just OK. In order to get it right you have got to fingerpick it which I cannot do on the second solo.

All the little fills are ultra tasty.

On a tablet now and can't figure out the YT link on mobile. Wish I could link Telegraph Road from Love Over Gold. Talk about killer chops and great transitions.

I put the vinyl on a few months ago; 180G German pressing. Sound was so clean my wife asked me what cd I was playing. Great album

Mark Knopfler and Dire Straits are one of my favourite CD's when I am travelling.

The Sultans of Swing album was released in 1978, the same year I started my first real career job. First major purchase was a decent stereo, and Sultan's was one of the first albums I bought. Most of my albums up this then had been used as coasters or worse in college.

I put Sultans on just a couple days ago - the original LP I bought in 78, on the same Technics SL-3200 I had back then. It's still in great shape despite very heavy play back in the day. What a great record!

Thanks for posting.

Nice old TT. Technics made a solid unit.

Much of the earlier vinyl sounds better too provided the grooves aren't worn down.

HIJACK
Back in '79, my room mate Tony's girlfriend would play Neil Young's Rust Never Sleeps every single Sunday morning for months and months on end.

I had enough, Tony had enough and my other room mate Chris had enough. We told Tylene "No more Neil Young".

The next Sunday Chris grabbed the album off my stereo as she was playing it once again and ran outside. Two steps off the porch he launched it towards the creek. I hit it with two blasts from my 12 guage shotgun before it hit ground

She was told not to replace that album. To this day, I still can't stand any song on that album.

End HIJACK

Well this is a direct drive table and while the belt drive 1200 is the most desirable Technics table this one is decent. There are a lot of 180 gram reissues that are great too. A modest turntable can surpass a CD system.
