Sometime next year I could afford a used corvette convertible (red, manual trans), but I'd never drive it. So instead I'm looking into either upgrading my shop to make it a 4 season facility or tearing it down and building new. I can use my shop everyday if I choose. Now to find an architect.

C4s are at the bottom of their price curve right now. You could do both of those things and drive a cheap C4 once in a while for kicks.

DAB barely fits in the passenger seat of a C4, forget the drivers seat. He needs a C5 or C6.

I agree with your logic right now. Make an all-weather workspace now and in a few years pick up a nice C5 to give you an excuse to get out more

I don't see how GM loses by the OP not purchasing a used vehicle in the secondary market, other than very indirectly. The losers would be sellers of used Corvettes, who find that their market for those vehicles has gotten smaller, and more sellers are competing for fewer buyers, driving used prices down.

if a current owner can't sell to get a new one, then the new one doesn't get bought.

true, it's a third level effect.

I was thinking more in terms of, the used Vette does get sold (just not to you), but for less, since there are fewer buyers competing for the car, leaving the seller with less money to put toward a new one.

Of course, we are both discounting the "Corvette baller" effect.

long ago, when we lived in MD, had a neighbor who was a mechanic at the chevy dealership. he told me of a corvette buyer who every year would buy a new one, flat bed it home, park and polish it, and then next year sell it and buy another new one.



drive them!! they are fun to drive, and you look good doing so. i drove the crap out of mine before selling it 4 years ago.
