Default Garage attic fan....

2 car garage one story house, kitchen behind rear garage wall.....

flip down stairs in garage.......

an kitchen stove vent fan but is also open to attic air so it can suck some of that also.....

and two 6' vents along ridge line of house about 40' from kitchen...

NOW, using a typical 24" fan to vent that attic, installed into the garage stairs fairly snug.....

Should the fan be blowing garage air to the attic/upward?? or sucking hot air from the attic.....?? into the garage...

I say blowing up, wife says blowing down......I say heat rises, and so to blast garage air into the hot attic, and let it vent out best it can....

Should suck hot air And blow out. If blows in, where is the 130 hot air going to go?

Have your wife google it…. Never mind

Your garage would be miserable in the summer. Ok maybe in winter but I would not do it.

Assuming garage is insulated, and attic is not...

Morning - toward garage
Evening - toward attic

In my attached 3 car garage, I have it insolated for the cold weather we have here. It is 24 x 36 x 12ft ceiling.
On the hot, dog days, when I have a big project, I have a window 5,000 btu A/C unit that keeps it in the 70's. There is also a ceiling fan to move the air around.
There are kits that will wall mount the A/C as well.

Blow out of the attic through gable as high as possible. I got this one at Home Depot and seems good enough. https://www.homedepot.com/p/QuietCoo...-2-0/312960272

Ridge vents also work. Have them on the house and stables.

Reminds me of a thread where someone asked if they could heat their house with their cloths dryer.

I installed a bathroom fan into the attic access door which was in a closet off the master bedroom and sucks hot air into the attic just like in the bathroom for steam

An ex-mother-in-law did that. Whenever I walked in to the kitchen and all four burners were red hot, both burners in the oven were red hot, and the oven door open, that was the cue to grab my kid and leave.

Agreed, I installed two in our house, pulling up from the soffit vents and I've been told that venting an attic can relieve as much as 1/2 ton of cooling from the interior space.
