I did not take that picture, but I did take one at the museum of that bike, when I walked by it, I had forgot I owned one of those, I stood there and all these memories came back..

I have a picture of the 175 and 250 together, but have not seen it in years, would love to find it..

I'll take a nice survivor over restored any day. My red 350 is too far gone though. Severely faded, some rust, oil, etc...my blue one is pretty decent and I will just leave it alone.

Is the orange looking bike in the back of the other pic a KTM?

Yes it is a 505, it does not belong to me.. A buddy left it at my house for a few months, it’s back at his house..

I watched this auction from start to finish. I asked the guy a few questions. He never would give details about the 'celebrity owned' or restored vs original questions. Beautiful bike.

Where do you find parts, and are they crazy expensive?

eBay is loaded with listings for almost anything you could imagine. Also the manufacturers still list an incredible array of parts for these and similar bikes. I am doing up a 1972 Yamaha CT2 175 enduro now and the local dealer can still order about 80 percent of the bike, new, from Yamaha.

There are also many forums like ours here dedicated to the specific brands, and in some cases specific models. Great resource for owners to get tech info and swap or sell rare goodies.

stupid expensive. People part out nice bikes because they can make more money on parts vs. selling an entire bike. You need to keep an eye open. Some good bikes come from your area. Seems people rode them during fair weather and stored them the rest of the year. I bought one last winter from MN. It is better than what I can find here. The only ones better come from out west.

A repro or original tool box lid is $85. Nice mufflers - $800-$1500. Side covers - $200 plus.

Ghost...look to the North and Northeast as well. Those bikes sleep for much of the year as well... but if they got used likely show the effects of rock rash as the woods there are indeed full of stones, boulders and ledge.

No recent pics... I have had some health issues of late which have cramped my style. Things are improving though, I am ready to make some progress on the bike, and the 1977 Vette... if it ever stops raining for long enough...

I don't know how much of a hit you'll take in price for not having a drivable scooter, but I'm willing to bet it's significantly more than the cost of a throttle cable and the effort to install it.
