I don't that these questions can be answered, but I'm curious why a PM to another member could be a bannable offense. After all, they aren't posts, just a private conversation (even though the Mods and Admins can read them, and that's another can of worms altogether).

If LATB's behavior on the forum was the primary reason he got banned, then that's fine. If, however, the main reason was a PM, then I think that sucks. Moreover, if the PM was to JoeCooool, then it doubly sucks 'cause he's an ass (with all due respect, of course, which in legal circles means, "Just how fcukin' dumb are you, Judge?"). What puzzy goes tattling to the teacher? Defend your own damned self.

Regardless of who the recipient was, a member in good standing doesn't deserve constant harassment especially after he blocked that member. A nasty PM or a public calling out, it's still harassment, the reason a public post wouldn't have worked was because JoeCool had already blocked LATB. That wasn't' enough for LATB, he didn't know when to quit.

Then I don't understand "blocking". Can a member block another member from posting in a thread? I assumed blocking meant that "offensive" (in other words, all) PMs from that member are blocked.

No, JoeCoool had blocked LATB, he (Joecoool) could no longer see LATB posts. But that didn't prevent the PM from being sent apparently.

But regardless LATB was encouraged time and time again to let it go and he couldn't.

Blocking a forum member does not stop pm from getting delivered.

Of course, had Phil simply deleted the pm without reading it there would not have been a problem. Apparently he couldn't bring himself to do that.

The reason he got banned is bc he didn't know when to shut up. He sent incredibly shitty pm's to several members and he deserved to get banned. Even I tried to get him to stfu.

I would like to see him back but take away his ability to send PMs.

That will neuter him enough to be VB friendly.

I think blocking is the wrong term here. Joe had LATB on his ignore list.

IC had little to do with his removal, I banned him. And it was mainly a financial decision. Not about a PM, not about politics, not about any specific comment or post.

In the history of this forum, there have been less than a handful of people that became such overwhelming nuisances they forced removal. By overwhelming, I'm referring to the point of driving away (supporting) members, causing an obvious decline in forum participation, and generally making the place less enjoyable. Larry excelled at achieving that.

I know it's easy for some of you to overlook the fact this forum costs money to host and operate. Simply put, any person that purposely drives away the income we do receive from supporting members will not be tolerated. No matter "how great of a guy" they may be. Larry was warned of this several times, went on a few short "vacations", but still he continued to talk down to us as if it were all a joke.

The fact is our current supporting membership generates enough to keep the lights on here for maybe 6 months of the year. We aren't even close to profiting, we have no advertisers, we are paying out of our pockets to provide this forum to you.
In the case of Larry, when I have 10+ supporting members, my friends, so annoyed that they are demanding "either he goes or we do", coupled with an already-obvious trend in declining forum traffic, the tough decision must be made in the best interest of the forum as a whole. From my perspective, that is NO different than him robbing us of $250, and I'm sorry, we put up with a LOT of BS here, but that I just cannot tolerate.

If I had any indication to believe he had the capability to return and act in a semi-respectful manner, I'd allow him back. But even in his last communication with us (long after he was banned), he continued on with his usual tone of arrogance. It was plainly he obvious he still didn't "get it".

I had him on my ignore list and when he couldn't get a rise out of me in public, the threatening PM's started. What he was doing to me was not the reason he was banned, it was probably just the final straw.
