US Navy 1984-1995
Surface Warfare Officer then did a lateral transfer to Engineering Duty Officer.

2 Deployments to the Indian Ocean, second one I was part of a Destroyer Squadron Staff embarked on the USS Ranger and our ships carried out the destruction of two oil platforms (operation Nimble Archer) that they were using to attack shipping in the gulf.

My Company thought a few of us should work with the Green Berets. I'am glad i served, i wouldn't have joined if i wasn't drafted. I talk very little about my experience in the Military especially with my Sons and they never really ask anyway. I will talk about Boot Camp and the funny stories that weren't funny back then but are now.

Me as a young LTJG with my Navigation crew after navigating the Willamette River for the Rose Festival, long windy river for a navy ship.


Our SH-2 landing


A picture I took from the above SH-2 of our ship near Alaska. I was hanging out the door strapped into a gunners belt. Crazy youth.


Spent two weeks on the Carl Vinson (CVN-70) so got a couple shots of Flight Ops.
