Default Locating a Specific Vehicle and Vehicle Financing Part 2

Sort of a follow up to my other thread...

I secured financing through Chase at 2.63% for a 48 month loan, that is the lowest they offer on a 4 year loan. All the info I can dig up via Toyota Financial indicates a loan in the neighborhood of 4% on the Tacoma. I suppose the dealership finance people can tweek interest rates?

Secondly, seems a bit difficult locating the specific vehicle I want (Silver or White Regular cab 4x4 Tacoma, Auto). I found one (yes, just one in Los Angeles) via Cars.com at a stealership 30 miles away.

I called a local stealership and talked to a sales person about finding one, and he made it sound like they are extremely difficult to find? Surely there is a dealer network setup for dealer trades?

I guess most folks just go to a dealership and buy a car or truck off the lot these days.

I hate buying cars, I'm not your typical impulsive buyer so I will be patient to get what I want. Perhaps I should expand the search to multiple States?

Chase can do better than that. I would find the vehicle through a "buying service" online. Like Penfed or USAA. Anyone can join penfed for $25 or so if you don't have any military affiliation.

Toyota dealers are just a pain in the ass to deal with. Mostly because they are dealing with many people who don't know anything about cars / buying / options.

They were a pain when I purchased my Tacoma. It was a good truck, but be prepared for 16-17 mpg highway. They won't due much better than that.

In general, management does not like to make dealer trades or order vehicles. They have the attitude that they have plenty of inventory on the lot and the salesman should be able to make you happy with something in inventory. That's what they pay him for.

Another thing that complicates locating/ordering vehicles is that they will want you to make some kind of deposit to show them you are serious and for them to set their efforts in motion. Even if you have no problem with that, the problem is that in California, by law your deposit is 100% refundable if you decide to back out of the deal, and trust me, that's exactly what happens more often than not. Then they are stuck with the truck they procured for you. My experience also tells me they could be worried about getting stuck with a regular cab truck. I know you have your reasons for wanting one, but they are hard to sell. Hope this adds a little insight. Of course, I could be wrong in your specific case, because I really know nothing about your dealer.

It's also not the end of the month anymore, and that really could make a difference. If your salesman wasn't all over you on the phone on the 31st, he's either lazy or had better deals to work on.

In all seriousness, there is probably six Toyota Dealerships within a 5 mile radius of me.

A dealer will be able to get a better rate for you. Dealers deal in indirect rates, which are essentially wholesale rates. If you do it on your own, that is direct lending, aka retail.

I sent an email request to a few local dealers, I've already received a response from one sales person named Jenny. Wonder if she is hawt?

Tell her you'll only buy from Jan, the lady on TV.

Finding a regular cab that isn't a stripped out model is going to be tough.

Why do you wish to buy a regular cab?

Dunno what the rates are but have you checked out statefarm bank?

The regular cab stripped out model is what I want. Mainly because I plan on keeping this thing forever, and I don't want any unnecessary bullshit on it. I actually WANT crank windows and as few options as possible. I'm gonna drive the wheels off this one, and I want it SIMPLE. Secondly, I like the looks of the regular cab 4x4.

Hmm, I'll check into State Farm bank. I don't know why I didn't think of that, as I am insured through them and have used them for a vehicle loan in the past...
