As far as the numbers in FL. Will have to follow the hospitalization rate as well as deaths a few weeks after the spike as that is when that number becomes apparent. Sounds like your area is doing OK. Other areas of FL, not so much.
So deaths and hospitalization don’t spike 48 hrs after positive cases? Weird....who knew

What is wrong with this illustration? I didn't catch it. It was pointed out to me.

It’s really strange. Some people that become critically ill do do in the first 72 hours, others it can be 10-14 days in.

I will say, when they turn critical, it tends to happen very abruptly. Some I’ve heard of in this area that decline and are daad before the ambulance arrives. I would assume the cytokine storm we are learning more about is occurring.

If masks work how come China got nailed by this? They wear masks like crazy there. How come Vietnam wasn't hit hard by this? They don't really do that there. How come Africa isn't just inundated with WuFlu if masks work? They don't have any masks to wear and if they did they'd probably be hoarded by a select few. And their hygiene is way less than your average first-world country. It's quite simple really. If you are in a high-risk group you should self-quarantine. Let the rest of society get exposed to it and build herd immunity. Why this is controversial in the least is simply amazing to me because we are treating this TOTALLY DIFFERENTLY than the other dozen or so outbreaks similar to this bug.

And then there's this.

I think we’re gonna be very good with the coronavirus. I think that at some point that’s going to sort of just disappear.

Fee.org as a reference. Of course, because that is factual, non biased, non political site.

The right mask redirects the exit of particles, no matter how small. Key word “right” AKA correct.

You should also still cover coughs and sneezes even with a mask.

So that physician is automatically wrong simply because of the website it’s on? Seriously?

Y’all are superb at twisting words. Automatically wrong?

Nope. Never said that. We have confirmed we can pull up an opinion on either side by medical experts.

Opinions really don’t hold water, cite research or reference valid data. Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, doesn’t prove anything to be “right or wrong”. Evidence based or STFU is kinda what I was trying to say.

There are no restrictions or requirements as to what type of mask is required at any business in Houston. I can literally Scotch tape toilet paper to my face and go right in. The majority....large majority, of masks people are wearing are the cheap light blue ones like nail people use. This is my point about all of this. They are ineffective. They are not approved or even recommended for the prevention of anything. It is like carrying a lighter in case you get a flat tire.

Yah, I don't know if you noticed or not but the media that you'd like your links from ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN PUSHING THIS ENTIRE NARRATIVE FOR MONTHS NOW! Things aren't like they used to be, our media is 100% just terrible for any actual information. Everything they put out is literally more biased than it was a week ago, a month ago, a year ago. They cover shit up, they push certain narratives in a surprisingly (not) coordinated fashion while avoiding any sort of reflection. CNN is their poster child for this, but they are all every bit as shit.

So finding sources for "the modelers were way the hell off", which they were BTW - that's just factual - aren't going to come from the MSM. They WILL NOT run any such story. They'll get you fired if you try.

I try to find "preCovid" references and then compare to recent references and see if they have changed. If they have not, I consider them more reliable.

American Journal of Infection Control from WAY back in 1994, when the topic of mask wearing was not so politicized:

Evaluation of Single-Use Masks and Respirators for Protection of Health Care Workers Against Mycobacterial Aerosols
S K Chen 1, D Vesley, L M Brosseau, J H Vincent
Affiliations expand
PMID: 8060007 DOI: 10.1016/0196-6553(94)90116-3
Abstract
Background: The recent increase in multidrug-resistant tuberculosis has spawned a major controversy concerning the degree of respiratory protection needed by health care workers, particularly during sputum-inducing procedures. The objective of this study was to measure the filtration efficiencies of a single-use submicron surgical mask, two disposable dust/mist respirators, a dust/mist/fume respirator, and a high-efficiency particulate air respirator against aerosolized mycobacteria. Facial fit was not addressed.

Methods: In a specially designed enclosed test apparatus, an aerosol was generated with a Collison nebulizer from a known concentration of Mycobacteria chelonae, used as a surrogate for Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Aerosol concentrations were measured with Anderson samplers upstream and downstream of the test masks and respirators, which were heat sealed to a metal plate.

Results: Mean efficiencies ranged from approximately 97% for the surgical mask and a dust/mist respirator to more than 99.99% for the high-efficiency particulate air respirator. Measurements of filter efficiency with an Aerodynamic Particle Sizer for the M. chelonae aerosol and independent challenge tests with latex spheres correlated closely with measurements of M. Chelonae collection efficiency determined with Andersen samplers.

Conclusions: Analysis of variance and Tukey's method for multiple comparisons indicated that the dust/mist/fume respirator and the HEPA respirator collected M. chelonae with significantly greater efficiency than did either the surgical mask or the dust/mist respirator. Even the least efficient mask tested, however, had a filter efficiency of more than 97% against particles averaging less than 1 micron in aerodynamic diameter.
