I BET 2/3 of this forum don't remember Magnavox Odyssey, the PONG game from the early 70's yet....all it was about, was like a tennis/badmitton/ping pong game with a line in middle of the screen....two controllers, and a 'ball' batted back and forth.....

been a while.....

Unfortunately it looks like more FPS games are being made for other platforms. The price of old games is staying too high for PC, while the other platforms of the same games are going done.

Gave up PC gaming a while ago... been 5 or 6 years. Costs way too much to keep up and the amount of hacking that goes on with FPS is crazy when you play multi. Xbox360 cuts down on that, but not 100%

I do however still love my MechWarrior games

My grandfather gave us one for Christmas in about 1976 or so. It had pong (singles and doubles), hockey, and handball. You selected the game with a slide switch. I remember it well.

BTW, back in the day, I was damn good at Pacman and Joust. I would kick anybody's ass, pretty much.

I still have a working pong game with pong, hockey, doubles, etc. it could be color or B&W.

I still hate pac man, but loved joust. That damned pterodactyl still pisses me off...

I got a video game system around that time and wonder if it is the same one...I can't remember the name of it. It wasn't an Atari...had limited number of game cartridges and pretty much died after Atari hit the market. Mine had a airplane game with it too (maybe bought separately). The planes would ONLY fly in straight lines - vertically or horizontal. The image of the plane was made up of these huge dots and maybe one plane was red and the other blue.

I SERIOUSLY got into some WW2 flying games in the early 90's though. Battle over Britain, Aces of the Pacific, Aces of the ETO, etc...I spent countless hours playing those.

These are the type of graphics the Magnavox Odyssey 2 produced. They were bad... really bad. You're right about Atari killing the Odyssey.

And Atari's combat was SO much better.

And here's the legendary pac man...

I still have these games too and they still work. I love kicking my kids' butts at these. They're too simple for them. lol

Didn't Atari make PC's?? for a while there in the early 80's??

I think it was Atari, maybe a Radio Shack computer, that my ex FIL used to do the programming for the B1 bomber.....a contract/retainer he had with his old company AIL on Long Island....so being retired and all, he would set there on this old POS machine and hammer out lines of code....

Broke out our old Intellivision not too long ago. It was a trip to play them games again and seeing the copyright of 1978

We had a blast with biplanes and it's still fun

The original Magnavox console didn't have cartridges. It had four games total, selected by a slide switch. Single/doubles tennis (pong), handball, and hockey. Pretty sure that's what it was. Handball was just tennis played against a wall. Hockey was just tennis with a different court layout and different scoring.

1st vid game was an Atari 52.
Was addicted to Centipede, and to a lesser degree Breakout. System had wireless controllers, woohoo!

Currently enjoy sims, Pharoah/Cleopatra, Ceasar IV, etc. Pirates is a pretty good time waster too.
