There were a few programs on CSpan3 this week discussing the week leading up to Appomattox that I watched. There was a discussion about the condition of Richmond after it was evacuated with many pictures. The Battle at Sailor's Creek and the last battles at Appomattox Court House and Appomattox Station were discussed too. These were recorded last month at Longwood College I believe.

They also showed the ceremonies marking the 150th anniversary of Lee's surrender at Appomattox yesterday. It looks like it will come on again tomorrow at 6 pm and 10 pm EDT.

It was interesting, but I wished it had more reenactment scenes.

There's also supposed to be another live show at 1:00 EDT Sunday too showing a reenactment of the formal surrender of arms.

I watched it all A couple of friends were in the Grant arrival scenario. The bigger reenactment is this w/e. We goofed off and didn't get registered in time for it. There was only a limited number of spots available. I wish they had filmed inside the house, too.

Have you been there? I know that you have visited most/many of the battlefields. This will be the end for mega-event reenactments. We won't see the numbers like at Gettysburg again.

PBS will air what they call an improved version of Ken Burns 'Civil War' in Sept. It has been 25 yrs. since it first aired. That blows my mind.

Yeah, I've been to Appomattox; but I was a kid when I went. I'll have to go back again sometime.

I would've like to have seen the reenactment, but I waited too late to go.

I know the amount of reenactors will be less in the future, but hopefully the reenactments won't suffer too much because of it.

I'll definitely watch the improved 'Civil War' when it comes out.
