Having my gallbladder removed

Last Saturday, I started to experience discomfort with my belly area. Decided to go to bed about 10:30 but that did not last long due to discomfort even lying down. So I got up and moved around for a few hours, but still no improvement. Had a bowel movement at 1:30am Sunday, but now I started to have chills and started to feel clammy and the pain in my stomach was getting worse. Since it was mother’s day, I did not want to wake up the wife, so I drove myself to ER and got checked in.

After having a CT scan and MRI, I had stones that blocked the small tube from the gallbladder to the intestine. So yesterday, they went in with a scope through my mouth to remove the stones prior to the removal of the gallbladder this morning. Can’t drink or eat anything. Haven’t had a shower since early Saturday morning so I’m kind of “ripe”. Can’t do much except to watch TV.

What was really interesting was talking to the nurses that stated most of the people that come in for gallbladder issues were young people. I ask why the young, and they said most of the young eat very poorly, eating mostly fast food or fatty food. And before you ask, no pics of sexy nurses.

Very sorry to hear that you are ill and I hope that everything turns out well for you. Back when I was in the office, I noticed that young coworkers and their spouses were having gall bladder surgery. Sometimes while they were still in their twenties. I had no idea what was causing it, but definitely noticed that something was off. The nurse could very well be correct regarding their diets being the primary cause.

My wife had hers removed less than 30 days after giving birth to our first child. Today is not the same procedure, as it was done 40 years ago......You'll end up with a dot, vs a huge scar across your belly.

No sweat, you'll be up and around quickly, good you caught it!

Oh, pic of nurses?

Hope all goes well and you have a quick recovery. Had mine out in 2007, went in at 8 AM, had the surgery at 9 AM and was home on the couch before noon.

Yep, that is how you do it, outpatient when an option.
If you have to stay overnight, advise them that one night is your maximum, as they need to sign your discharge so you have no insurance issues.

Last time I was in I had double pneumonia, from china virus, they wanted me to stay three days.
After 24 hours I advised I was leaving today, the charge nurse said I was not.
I advised her that if not I would start being an ahole, she asked bigger ahole that in the last 24 hours, I advised much MOAR bigger, was out in four hours.

Good luck and get well soon. My gallbladder flared up and put me in the hospital a few months ago. I need to have mine removed, but I needed a cardio stress test first and it took almost three months of testing and cardiologist visits before I was approved. I’ve since lost motivation to have it done and will probably need another flare up before I go through it. I found that chocolate and potato chips have been giving me discomfort down there for 2 or 3 years now.

Hope you're on the med soon. Ask a hot nurse to give you a sponge bath.

I had the same thing happen once but didn't know what it was until after it was over. It sent me home from work feeling the same way you mentioned clammy and sweating and a lot of pain. I called a nurse friend and she thought it was my gallbladder and told me to get up and walk around every 15 minutes.... I did that and within a couple of hours I felt good as new. On my yearly I mentioned it to my doctor and he sent me in for a ultrasound and sure enough I had a 3mm growth...still have the gallbladder until I have a issue again.
