Read that one earlier. They are WAAAAY to proud of that piece of shit. Survivor....yeah, from what war? It will cost someone more than what they pay for it to get it close to being right.

Yeah but it looks like the hard to find items are with it at least, the hood grills, trim around the rear window, etc. I’ve heard some of those are like gold.

It looks like it has a serious fiberglass problem...maybe delamination. That is almost unrepairable. Plus the auto, low hp motor, etc...are going to hurt the value even with a full resto...not even counting if the frame and birdcage are good in it.
I don't think it spent all those years in a barn...looks like it was outside for the majority and sun baked. |

It's the marketing that counts....and IF the car is worth the costs....and IMO the answer is NO......reason.....
simple.....all the guys who wanted one are out of the market for one reason or other...... so as a resto, the market is going DOWN.....BUT as a modified hotrod...who knows?? |

With the condition that car is in, you're basically buying a VIN tag.

It's up to $63.3K
That's a lot for a low hp PG car with "patina" |

It is a real 63. They are mostly spoken for by now. It will not return the restoration cost next week but it will do so somewhere down the road. Plus the new owner will get to enjoy his/her investment as it grows in value.

I have my doubts. I think in the next 20 years the classic car market is going to tank. The people that identify with these cars will either be in a nursing home or dead, and the current generation lacks interest in them. You never know, but even now I think the market is inflated beyond what it should be.

I have a buddy that has a 63 fuelie coupe in his barn since the 70's.
He keeps saying he is going to restore it, and he most likely will now that he is retired. |

Even if all the parts are still there, if you started with a $50K purchase of the car and then tacked on a concours-level restoration that adds... what? $75K? $100K? If you're buying to enjoy it, sure. I don't think someone is going to restore this and take it to auction for a large profit. |

Then there are people that just like doing the restoration themselves. They don't even think of making money on it. They finish it, sell it and move on to the next project. I know one guy who has done about five cars in the last 20 years. He is a retired body shop owner, which helps, of course. He never keeps them for more than a couple years. I doubt he clears enough money to cover his time at minimum wage.
When you think about it, it's just another expensive hobby. None of us are probably going to make any money playing golf, either. |

Many have said you are better financial wise to by a turn key car vs. restoring it or having it restored for you. I've watched those first days of the big auctions and there are some REAL bargains to be had especially on the first day. I still think this car has serious fiberglass and body damage. I looked at a local '64 conv. at a bank auction. It was in pieces and boxes. The guy bought it for $9k. He cleaned it up just a tad bit and bolted a few pieces of it back together and put it on ebay. It sold for $30k. There wasn't anything at all special about it and it was seriously in a thousand pieces and needed everything. It blew my mind that someone would pay that kind of price and then have all that work ahead of them. |
