That would have been a big fat no from me. Was cruising past New Orleans on the bike when my comfort engineer got it in her head to explore the city... NO NO NO NO, but I did get off the freeway long enough to find a place to eat some authentic Cajun food and we met some nice locals. She was sorely disappointed

This post reminds me of a time in my late 20s when me and a buddy of mine decided to go to an all black night club. It was an experience. Probably one of the most fun nights I had in a bar. We never bought a single drink and danced and laughed all night. The place probably had 200 people at least and we were the ONLY whites.

Late high school/early college, when me and my friends weren't 21 yet, we used to go to this pool place that had a bar in it that was close to Philly, because the owners didn't give a shit about liquor laws. The crowd was 90+% Black, and they didn't give a shit that we were White. I wouldn't want to start shooting my mouth off in the place, but if we were drinking beers and playing pool and not bothering anyone, nobody gave a shit. Good times.

My kid got lost in Detroit trying leaving a concert one night. Went in a bar to ask for directions. Said everyone stared at him and there were no smiles. Just pointed him toward the freeway. Probably laughed their butts off after he left.
