Nice rifle, nice shooting with a take down.
My newer 94 rifle (none take down, made in 1898 .32.40) can still shoot quite well. The funny thing about that is the ammo is low powered because there are many guns out there not in good condition. (mine is still very tight and its smokeless steel) You shoot bench rest at a 100 yards and the round is so slow you can see the target rip when the slug finely gets there! |

That's really cool, a functional antique. That's suitable for hanging over the mantle.
I had an old 'granny gun' single shot 12 gauge that I displayed on the side of the fireplace mantle before the tragic boating accident. It was a gift, so I have no idea of the age or provenance, but I was told it was functional. Never tried it out. |

My oldest rifle is a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser that was made in 1905 IIRC. It's been modernized back in the late 80's, and has a Leopold 8x scope. Thing is deadly accurate, powerful, and very easy to shoot as the recoil is very reasonable. My nephew borrowed it for about 10 years and killed a lot of deer with it, now he's got a few rifles of his own so it's back here.

Where did you find ammo for that .33? I had never heard of the cartridge before your post.
