Default Places To Stay In Vegas

I haven't been to Vegas in years. I'll be going to Phoenix in August for the Bondurant School and then I'm heading to Kingman to visit an old radio buddy. I was thinking I'll cruise over to Vegas for a few days. During the week, less crowded works better for me.

Has anyone stayed at Aria? That's where I'd like to stay. If not, where have you stayed? Pros? Cons? I'm only really interested in the top tier hotels.

TIA

Aria is nice. If you play poker, they have one of the best poker rooms in town. Or, if you want to save a few bucks, you can stay at Monte Carlo. The rooms aren't that much different, and it is connected directly to the Aria, and connected via a tram to Bellagio.

The wife and I lived in Vegas for a coupla years. The Aria opened while we were there. So, it's relatively new. You've picked a good location to get to other areas of the strip since many like to wander around. If you would like directions or other "local" tips, ask away.

If you are looking for some good off-strip restaurant options (I prefer to get away from the crowds when I'm there), try Lotus of Siam for AWESOME Thai food. Its a dumpy looking place in a sketchy area, but the food rocks. Reservations are recommended & prices are very reasonable.

Also, we love Road Kill Grill for BBQ. It was featured on Diners & Drive-ins show. It is literally in the back yard of a house in a residential neighborhood in North Las Vegas. The guy has a big meat processing/butcher operation, and also sells BBQ. The ribs ROCK! Go for lunch. I'm not sure how late they are open in the afternoons/evenings.

Places to stay in vegas.....?

Go to a website like Orbitz, and look for price, location, and star rating.

A hotel full of people, is a hotel with hundreds of cars, and to find parking is a bitch.

I fine the Hard Rock, and Casino in Las Vegas a great place. Not crowded, not on the strip, and easy parking.

Last trip we stayed at the Cosmopolitan. It's one of the few hotels with balconies and we got one overlooking the Bellagio fountains. A little spendy by probably in line with Aria.

We only been once and stayed at the Wynn, it was everything we could have asked for and more! I'd go there again in a heartbeat

We have always stayed at Bellagio. Was there last month. Next time going to stay at Aria. Newer and it seemed a little less crowded. Nice choice of restaurants and bars.

Before I even read your post I had Aria in my mind.

My mom lives in Vegas, and I'm out there all of the time.

Personally, I still prefer the MGM Grand with one of their tower suites. I like the view.

Luxor is old and showing its age. Badly. Last time we stayed there, I was pretty shocked.

Aria or Wynn (or Encore at Wynn).

I know nothing of Vegas today, in fact never been there at all......

But can't help the comment that I wish I had gone back in the daze of the Rat Pack and seen some of their shows.....and the bedding/room could have been a tent in the desert for all I cared.....

Probably make a reservation in a few weeks. I don't plan on spending a ton of time in the room, but I do want a nice room to come back to. And I DO require a great view. Days will be poolside. Maybe visit Hoover Dam.

I agree. I was in the Luxor a few years ago, and it was rough.

Thanks all. I reserved at Aria for August. They had a 15% off deal until May 2, so I got a corner strip view tower suite. Fancy schmansy. It'll be fun to get back there after such a long time.
