Default Hey DAB, Look what I made!
Hey Dab,

After being inspired by so many of your awesome woodworking projects, I decided to do one of my own. I needed some seating on my front porch, and decided to build some gliders. I found a plan for the bench in an old woodworking magazine, and then modified it to make the chair. It is all made from Western red cedar, with just a light stain on it to even out the color. They turned out to be very comfortable, but don't swing quite as much as I thought they would. Still turned out OK for a beginner, I think.

pretty cool taking pile of lumber, adding some effort and skill, and ending up with something useful and beautiful, isn't it?

Thanks guys! I was actually planning to make a small table to match, using the cutoffs from the chairs. But, I calculated my wood purchase so carefully that I didn't end up with enough scrap left to make it. So, I have to go by and pick up a bit more of the cedar to do it. Our big box stores around here don't normally have clear red cedar like this, so I had to go to a special yard to get it.

your cost just went up a bit buster.

i'm on DSL, and trying to do an attachment didn't work 5 times, so now i'm trying photobucket upload.
