Yes, and if I have to drive south its a state I do my best to stay out of.

I also have lots of experience with people from NJ up here at the lake. The majority of them are loud, obnoxious and do not have a clue about being around rural people. They fit into a category we call "flatlanders" and its not meant to be a complement. So far most of these people only come up for weekends and not the whole summer. During the Covid bullshit of a couple years ago many bought property on the lake!

Next door to a friends place a couple from NJ moved up here year around. They are both retired school teachers. Add up their Jersey background, attitude, driving ability and employment, I'm so glad they live on the other side of this lake.

Agreed!!
In the tri-county, I can take you to some of the most affluent neighborhoods in the world (Worth Ave, Las Olas, multiple Miami Islands), and in less than a mile away you would be in the crosshairs.

Both overtown and liberty city are next to downtown Miami, both have had riots, the crime today in these area are much higher than abutting areas.

I did. Needs to be split like Korea so that the folks down south can live as they want, not as Trenton decides. Say from Salem to Little Egg Harbor. Make AC the prison.

Perhaps but....what we (currently in MT) consider "not so safe areas is pretty much non-existent compared to the remainder of the nation.
Random wackos and drunken/drugged domestic violence happen pretty much nationwide. But consistent and daily stranger-on-stranger violent crimes are VERY rare outside black/hispanic/poor communities.

Personally, at this point in time, I wouldn't feel comfortable long-term in ANY community, gated/secured or not if we were within a few hours of large communities of minorities....unless.....Asian. Years of personal experiences have opened my eyes to reality. It's FAR worse now!
