Default Homemade toys (fart machine)!

We were so poor we had to make our own toys…. This was an all time favorite, perfect for your grands! A simple hanger (cut and bent into a U shape) two rubber bands and a small metal washer. You wind it up, place under your legs while sitting, then gently lift your leg until it spins! 😂

Oh I well remember those things, you could even by them in some stores of the era!

We used them by winding them up tight and placing under a seat. They were quite during the set down bur the second the person got off the seat they took off with a rather loud noise!

Course in that era we also had the fake shit piles placed in strategic places!

We made these with the super huge bobby pins that would draw blood. Also needle tipped blow gun darts made from paper cones and model airplane dope. And tiny bows and arrows that you could shoot in class. And the worst, hanger wire sling shots with about 10" of SIG model airplane rubber for power and U-nails as ammo. We could put holes in the screen at the movie theater from 60 feet away. It was nuts, but nobody ever lost an eye or went to jail.

Still have my 'pocket rocket' but it needs new rubber. That thing was deadly with buckshot. It's over 50 years old now! Also good at launching M-80's taped to marbles or ball bearings. We made the stars in metal shop. They stuck into the sides of the wooden Portable classrooms with ease. This was when Kung Fu was on the air, so it was a big deal. 5-9 and 180 pounds. Fat hand and arm due to lifetime of heavy lifting and physical work. Makes it easy to crush 14" necks of mouthy egoists.

We would bend Mom's bobby pins to make them into a spring-loaded thwacker when pressed against somebody's skin - hurts like hell; I can't find a video or even a picture of one.

Here is an old posting I made some time ago about an old toy my father taught me how to make from the 1930’s. https://www.thevettebarn.com/forums/...1&postcount=41

That's it? We make the same thing but thinner, wind it up , place it in a letter envelope, put someone's name on it and when they open it, scares the crap out of them
