Texas doesn't seem to have any problems getting trucks in and out of our ports, and I am in the Port of Houston about once a month. No problems here.....just in CA.
10 Largest Ports in North America [Updated: Oct 2021

https://www.shipafreight.com/knowled...north-america/

Port of LA handles 20% of US Imports
Port of Long Beach next in line
Port of Houston handles mostly petroleum.

Last year a supply specialist said that in the past ship would follow a schedule like an airline. If the ship was not full to capacity it would leave port to go to the USA.

Since the pandemic the schedule is thrown out and the ship won't leave until it is 100% full.

I meant simple as in only buying American made (not just assembled) products. It's impossible for most things now, and it would take years and LOTS of money to change that. And yeah, everything would be way more expensive.

That's the answer but our "Leaders" over the past 30 to 40 years, BOTH SIDES have ****ed that all up.

That is what needs to be changed and not just POTUS but the every one of the 535 on the Hill and the 9 dumbass stooges on the SCOTUS.
Speaking of the SCOTUS. Why the **** do they have to wait for the lower courts to rule on anything. They are the 3rd branch of government and if a ****ed up drug mandate comes out of the WH they should immediately rule on the EO or whatever it is.

Every Bill or EO should be examined for its Constitutionality before any other step in the process. They pass crap and hope it sticks or we wear ourselves out fighting it.

Ahhh, yes, true. It "was" possible and fairly easily accomplished. I recall in the 90s debating that the US should become an isolationist nation. Had we done that, we'd have been far better off and Brandon would have a LOT more work to do to try to destroy us.

Above all I blame the tree huggers. They have done more to damage the economy than anyone. They don't seem to give two shits what any other country does to produce our goods, but we better not do it.

Actually its quite easy and I'll gladly pay more for something Made in America as I know I won't have to purchase the same chinese crap over and over since it breaks over and over.

I use web-sites like this before I purchase many products:

The reason its expensive is due to our overall society.

Our costs are too high due to massive overspending on HC, welfare, education and housing. All driven by government programs and policies that the electorate refuse to change.

Then add in the regulations, taxes, "Woke culture " and dozens of other issues and we've screwed ourselves for over 50 years

I am like you in that I too am willing to pay more for MIA goods...then when it comes down to it, I am a hypocrite because I don't want to pay 4 or 5 x for something. I'd pay 25% more, maybe even 75% more. But at some point it is just burning money and my contribution to the cause does nothing.

If Best Buy had to eat every appliance and TV for two years straight, then it might get someone's attention.

Well, if all you buy is what’s available on that site you go for it. You wouldn’t own a car, phone, computer, TV, or many other things considered necessities. Assembled in America (largely with components made elsewhere) isn’t the same as Made in America. I’m more than willing to pay more for products made here, but that’s impossible for many things now.

so a chip made in China/etc costs maybe 50 cents, and 25 cents shipping, and made here is 75 cents and 20 cents shipping.....so what?? makes a 150 buck TV cost 160 bucks......get my drift???

NO WAY IN HELL the orient can TAKE our inventions/chips/etc and tool up to make them, pack/ship them/unload, repack to other transport, and distribute cheaper than we could do it ourselves if we got the gumption to just DO IT!!!!

Yes they can and Americans lost the "Gumption " decades ago. I was in the Semi industry for 40 years and watched as the costs rose dramatically in the USA due to dozens of self imposed reasons while many countries in Asia did all they could to make products as cheap as possible.

Freight cost on an average IC is pennies for expidited airfreight.
