You say "many" can't make Memorial day weekend, yet I already see BRII registrations exceeding 100 this year, and 7 in the other thread stated they can't make it due to family commitments that particular weekend.

So say we accommodate those 7 people, and quit listening the ones that can and have attended the past several years. If we change it and future attendance drops, did we really do better?

Anyone planning something like this must always look at the big picture and can't just focus on specific reasons that may keep a few from attending. We can never make everyone happy, so we must choose majority consensus.

Corvetteforum may use this bullshit excuse as the primary reason CI failed, yet even your own personal reason isn't supporting that theory. You're choosing to attend another event in a different part of the country that's being held concurrently, so it sounds like you don't have "family activity" conflicts either.
You want to go drive your car on a track, others want to spend time with their longtime forum friends. Two very different aspirations.

BRII is quickly shaping up to eclipse what CI-12 attendance was, and that will prove timing, economy, and gas prices aren't quite the underlying reasons CI is no more. We can't advertise our event to 300,000 members either.

If even 10% of our forum shows up, I would consider that an outstanding success, even though the raw numbers may not seem impressive. Quality over quantity, it's why we're here.

This is not to say we won't change the dates in the future, but we will consider ALL input and go from there, and past attendance must be considered quality input too.

Well said, we have met before. Not sure if you remember me from funfest a few years back. For myself yes...correct...my passion is racing. For others like you stated...would be attending a great event like this one. All I was trying to say was that by changing the date you might get some people to go that otherwise could not. I think you would be taking more a risk by moving the venue to a different location vs changing the date. That has already started a discussion in a different thread I been following. As far as Corvette forum goes I could give a sh?@ less as to why it failed. Everybody has their own opinions on that one...was not on here to bring up the past relating CorvetteForums CI to the Barn Raising. I go on here to catch up with some old friends.

Absolutely agree with what you say here, but I also see what you say there too. You seem to paraphrase Jim quite often and take a strong interest in rebuilding a possible future CI event, whereas I do not.

Of course I remember you Jeff, and I am not bitching at you either. You do raise valid points, I raised some more in return from a much different perspective. I attended six CI's, I know what they were, and I was also there to see what they dissolved to. I'm pretty sure I know why, and now it's our time to fix it, so to speak.

CI was once my absolute favorite event of the year, and many of the members here are my closest friends. Those who feel the same are very excited to do it again this year, and for more in the future. All we can do now to resurrect the event concept is to repair the damage done, which wasn't our doing.

Hope to see you in the future, my comments are nothing towards you personally, other than advising you to not believe the hype sometimes.

THIS. X100000

This is one of those rare occasions that I'll pat myself on the back...for a reason. As I said in another thread, I've planned CI-X, BR I, BR II and a precursor to BR I. I put an awful lot of work into making sure that those four events were and are successful. So when someone goes into a thread at CF knowing that we have announced BR II and makes a misleading statement that no event is on the calendar for May, then comes in here and talks about "our great event"...well...I get a little chapped.

It's clear that a few folks are upset over the fact that Cruise-In is dead. I count myself among those as I had many great times at the three I attended. But that's no reason to downplay another group thats trying to carry the torch because you feel you've been shafted.

No disrespect intended here, but sometimes, it's better to say nothing at all.

In for the Roll Call - arr Fri early, dep Sun late, staying at the Hampton.

Arriving via Delta and National instead of the 2010 GS, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made!

Reward paid Friday morning for a plate of Dixievette's smoked mac-n-chz from Thursday night - hate missing that!

I will be sure to bring some California Sunshine!

Too bad you're not coming sooner. I'm leaving on Wednesday, most likely out of LAX.

I'll be sending a group PM to some CF members based on past CI attendance. Will be letting them know that NCM is sponsoring an event and will direct them to the NCM schedule, this thread and the hotel discount thread.

I would rather be in Bowling Green. It's not my fault that Psychoblonde decided it would a great idea to get hitched on the same damn weekend and want Martha and I to be in the wedding. Of course the way things are currently going I might go to The Barn Raising.

We're 1-and-1 Val.

Unfortunately, if I don't replace my lost job soon, my prospects of making it to BR II will be greatly diminished.

You were the trash talker in the first. I won. I was the trash talker in the 2nd, and you won. We're 1 and 1.

I'm doing my best to get there. I miss you mang.

You DO remember our back and forth banter going into the event where I almost killed myself falling off of your trailer don't you? You were certainly confident going in that it was your event.

Are you going to force me to look up our posts on CF leading up to that event? Do you seriously not remember chiding me going into that race? We had a great back-n-forth testosterone banter going into the first race, which I won. Hence, why I was kinda taken aback in the 2nd meeting when I was egging you on in person. It was always playful banter on my part. It was never meant to be derogatory.

You know we are both extremely fast, talented drivers, but you seem to have forgotten our back-n-forth leading up to the first meeting. I would have never been so arrogant with you leading up to the 2nd meeting, had you not set the precedent in the first event.

Regardless, it's all good. I like you very much Val, and we both went in different directions in our driving prowess. You are a road race ace, and I've stuck to perfecting autocross.

We complete each other.

Nope. I didn't. But in the interest of complete honesty, I did reply in this thread Cruise-In 9 Autocross Smack Down - Corvette Forum which was started with that purpose in mind, and deliberatley set up a bet I knew I would lose to donate to St. Judes. Been reading a bunch of old threads that make me miss the old days tho!

Having been beaten by Dave in a C3 and Russ in a C4, I have learned never to be arrogant about autocrossing. In all honesty, if you can find anything I posted anything like that I willl sincerely apologize and add that to my list of self-improvement issues.
