I live in the people’s republic of NY and our head liberal (Andrew Cuomo <Clinton’s former sectary of HUD>) is trying to do a confiscation trick here also. We already have some of the dumbest/tough laws on the books already, but of course those laws only affect honest people!

Having said that, the gun rights crowd's inability to compromise will result in legislation like that being proposed in Illinois today.

People with mental disabilities should not possess firearms. On this we can all agree. What will be your side's undoing is the inability to actually do something to prevent these people from getting weapons.

What the NRA should have said is that they know there is a problem with mentally unstable people getting semi automatic weapons and that issue needs to be addressed. They should support closing the gun show loop hole and a federal permit that require gun owners to take a psychological test.

But nope, its the same old song and dance. No new regulations.

When then all semi automatic rifles and handguns are confiscated, you will only have your inability to compromise to blame.

That didn't take long.

And just my two cents...there will be a civil war before they take legal law abiding citizens private property (guns)

Rational gun laws? There are already too damn many laws on the books now. And guess what? Those laws only apply to law abiding citizens. Do you think that the criminal element is going to abide by any new gun legislation? You'd be a damn fool to think that.
