bilmem Compression with Nitrous

For those of you running the giggle gas, what compression are you running? Is there a cut off where you can have too much compression like there is with a SC setup?

Stock compression, and no problems here. There's always a point of too high compression in anything. The higher the pressure, the more upgraded components you're going to need. The bigger the shot, the more upgraded.....etc, etc.

Nitrous and high compression actually work very well together.

Spraying N2O cools the intake charge even more than a n/a engine can do on it's own, which is why it greatly differs from FI as a power adder.

Positive intake pressure (boost) works at packing more air into the cylinder, but upping cylinder pressure is also terrific at creating hotter chamber temps too, which is why FI people lower compression ratio - to avoid detonation during the compression stroke where the heat is created.

Because nitrous is bottled as a compressed liquid, when sprayed into the intake, as it rapidly evaporates, it removes a tremendous amount of heat from the air, which creates a much denser and colder air charge entering the cylinder. (ever put your hand on a leaky propane tank fitting? - it's kinda the same concept happening here)

And, assuming enough fuel is added to satisfy the denser oxygen-rich air charge, when ignited, you have a much bigger "bang" at ignition, and gain a lot of power without creating additional heat in the chamber during the compression process.

Simply put, if your n/a car is running fine now on pump gas, with adequate fuel delivery to match the shot, it will do just fine on the bottle too.

I'm running about 11.7:1 CR n/a and would not be afraid to spray it.

Well hell, I didn't know you wanted a scientific answer and junk.
And, as usual, Y2 is spot on. He's purdy smart.

I haven't heard of anyone running over 12.5 with the Gasssss??? I think there is a point with Gas where is becomes too Volatility and starts pre-igniting??
