Well, it didn't take long

for the scum bags to realize we weren't still living at our place in the county. I hadn't posted anything yet but the wife and I bought a new house closer to the city on one acre. But, we haven't sold the old place yet. A couple of weeks ago we decided to pull it off the market and do some painting, replace some carpet, etc. We go out there about once a week to check on things and grab something that we need. I don't have a shop built yet so I still have a bunch of junk there. On the way last night I started thinking I should start bringing a pistol with me on the off chance that we surprise someone in the house. Well there wasn't anyone there but the front door was busted open. Muther Phukers,,,,,,I can't stand scum like that. It appears that the alarm must have scared them off as nothing was touched except the door. The house has only been vacant for3 months.

It's a shame in todays world that you have to protect everything you have, every minite of the day..Im surprised it took them 3 months to break in, scumbags usually work faster then that. Glad to hear nothing was taken but don't think they won't be back... If it's young people and they don't find anything to steal, they may just trash the place for the fun of it...Just another sign of a society going bad....WW

Yeah, scumbags are everywhere these days. Obviously they must have been scouting out your place, especially this time of year when many people are traveling for the holidays. Yeah, it was not surprise but I was still hoping it would take longer. I'm pretty sure is was not a professional in that respect because they were scared off so easily by the alarm. If they watched to see if anyone showed up they will take more time next time. Although we will have the alarm monitored next time. $25/mo well spent.

Thanks Jim. It wouldn't be hard to scout this since we are visable from the road. With no vehicle in the drive for several weeks now it would be obvious to anyone paying attention just driving by once a day. I thought about anking Friz but then I figured he wouldn't be housebroken

Might be worth it to put lights on a timer, leave a radio playing, and park a spare car in the drive. When my neighbor goes on vacation, I park my truck in his driveway just in case anybody is casing the joint. And if I catch them.....

The guy on the other side is retired military....friendly guy if he likes you, meaner than greased....uh...owl shit if he doesn't. He watches my place when I leave.

It's a shame nobody respects boundaries any more.

We leave different lights on everytime we go out there. I do have my Chevy Luv that I can move to the front of the driveway but I'm not sure it will help much and they are just as liable to steal it. I believe I have a neighbor who might have done this. We had never had anything bothered out there in 14 years until about 4-5 months ago when someone stole a set of tires that came off our old Jeep. They were out of sight behind the shop under a car port area where we keep our old travel trailer. Who ever took these had to have looked around to find them, not a smash and grab. The properties out there are far enough apart that neighbors can't really watch each other and most of them are new enough we don't know them.

We had acturally bought a security monitor with 6 cameras but ended up taking it back, go figure.
